This is a bittersweet post to make because I've honestly taken too long to write this. If you are aware of Wild Grind, you'll know they are closing next weekend on 9/28/25. I'm honestly in mourning, and I can't believe that this place is closing, let alone closing so soon. It all started when I realized how limited the options were for decaf. For a while, I swore off coffee for a couple of months, but I missed it. So I set out on a quest to find some better decaf coffee.
I found this coffee shop and brewery when I was looking around at a post on ExpeditionKristen that I found through the Sip Scouter Passport Instagram page. The thing that captured me: that logo! She had a stunning photo of the stunning logo on a coffee glass (on the outside patio, which is fabulous by the way) that was absolutely stunning. So of course, I instantly followed her and headed over to her blog to investigate. I was able to narrow it down and figure out that she got it from Wild Grind. I headed over to the website and I was pleasantly surprised: it's in the South Metro AND they are dog friendly! Could it get any better? I didn’t think so. I looked at my calendar and I had some free time on a Friday to read and work on things without any meetings. I had been trying to get back into the groove of reading more and writing for work. I wondered if getting into a new space and shaking some things up would help with getting this habit more solidified. It seemed like a slam dunk. And little did I know it would become my go-to place after that first bisit.
Overall, it was great to see some people chatting, taking meetings, reading, and working away on their computers. People were there for a long time — we arrived and left before several others did. There were several other dogs there too! They have a wonderful courtyard space to work in that helps you forget that you're in a fairly industrial area. Most of the spots are in picnic table setup so it definitely promotes a great sense of community when you're hanging out there. And on the nice days, they open the garage doors to allow natural light and air in, which is honestly the best.
My Miel was fabulous AND it was caffeine-free. It was so well balanced with the honey and cinnamon. It was hard to convince me to try other things. All of their espresso options can be made decaf, which is so great. And their menu is deep and has so many great options for different drinks, all of which are fabulous when I have tried them. I personally loved their Spumoni Mocha, which they had as a specialty drink this spring, and the Neapolitan is a solid backup for when that is not on the menu. I've also tried several miels since my first visit, and I still maintain it's the best miel I have ever had. They also get a lot of points for innovation, too -- they had a sweet corn latte this summer that received rave reviews as well, showing they are not afraid to make some great innovative drinks.
So, if you have the time, I'd make it a priority to go to Wild Grind before they close to check it out. It is truly fabulous, and I'm devastated they are closing. It is really the only place I wanted to go on my birthday. Any day off that I stick around town tends to include a stop here. We made the decision to start looking for houses seriously and found our realtor while working here. This place inspired me to start this blog. It really has been a part of so many great memories since I started going here about a year ago. I hope you are able to get out there and experience it before it closes. And while it might close, it will always have a special place in my heart.
My recommendations:
Miel (my personal favorite)
Spumoni Mocha (while supplies last - from their spring specialty menu, however, they still have supplies to make it and it was one of my favorites)
Neapolitan
So please go get them while they are available. Try something new if you've been there before. I really don't think you can go wrong at Wild Grind. I'll miss you so very much and wish the baristas only the best -- you all made it fabulous.
